A consent to access water from the Waiaruheiti stream, on the eastern edge of the Mid North scheme area, has been issued by Northland Regional Council.
This consent, which will take water from the stream in times of high flows, will be used to assist with filling the Otawere reservoir which is planned for development in the Waimate North area. As part of this consent the Trust will be doing considerable riparian planting along the course of a section of the stream.
Resource consent to build Otawere is currently being sought.
